{Wise Words}

{Contorted Faces}

He has a bunch of cousins that are born naturals when it comes to making funny faces. They don't even need to try. Just click the camera and you get a series of well contored faces that looks ugly and beautiful at the same time. It's a gift! M & I are the most boring photo subjects because we smile the same in every photo. One day, we decided to try and test if we have the same genes flowing through us. After A LOT of effort, this was the best we could come up with... at least we tried...

{We Tried} ...not so funny after all

{scrapQuirks}

My designs need to be "balanced".
If I have a tree sprouting out from the bottom right, I need to balance with something creeping down the top left.
If there is a horizontal ribbon running from the bottom left, I will make sure something grows out from the top right.

Don't ask me why? I just can't do it otherwise :)

That's why it's a QUIRK :)

{Scarlet Surprise}

The Scarlet is Singapore’s first luxury boutique hotel. Vivacious and uninhibited, the interiors of this hotel pulsate with an eclectic tension, offering all who enter an adventure for the senses.

I've always wanted to stay-in for a night and so we did...2 years back! He planned it as a surprise. I was delighted! I promised not to nag at him about how disappointed I was with the "wedding proposal" after this suprise. I did stop nagging... now, I just accidentally mention it once in a while :)

Good Times

{I'm wondering...}

Everyone has a unique scrap style. You may not know what exactly it is now, but it doesn't mean you don't have one. Scrap more, and I'm sure, the answer will surface in no time.

A classic, contemporary, romantic, vintage, traditional, pop art or a naturalist? What if you are none of those? Then what are you?

I'm at the stage where I'm searching and seeking.

What is my scrapstyle?

According to a quick online test that I did, I seem to be stuck between 2 styles. 2 different extremes.Here's the results:

If you picked mostly C's your style is definitely FUN, COLORFUL and PLAYFUL. Most likely you probably have children, or are extremely young at heart. You probably love to laugh and have a great magnetic personality that those around you are extremely attracted to. You might be considered high energy. Although the look is perfect for you, try using some basic embellishments like charms and metals and keep it simple. Since you probably use lengthy journaling and you're probably extremely personal in your journaling, try some new journaling styles, such as bullet journaling or list journaling.

If you picked mostly D's your style is very SOPHISTICATED & ELEGANT. A very formal look. More than likely you are drawn to a classic, traditional look with an added elegance. You are highly sophisticated in your creativity and could probably mass produce some award winning heritage and wedding pages. But since the elegant look tends to lend its hand best for Heritage and wedding pages, you might try some new techniques. Try adding some bold, or bright colors, with some texture. Use some new techniques like shabby chic and collage to stay true to your elegant style but lend a flair to your pages. As a sophisticated and elegant scrapbooker, you might tend to forget to get personal in your journaling - don't let that happen. Try journaling in a letter or note style and be sure that others can see deep within your heart.

{Prawning is fun!}

This is my first attempt to take the scrap pictures myself with a simple digicam. I always admired how scrappers could take such beautiful pictures of their work - captured the right angle with the right amount of light. I might be one of those few whose husband is the one who really takes better pictures and I'm just... me :)

I recalled during those times before digicam came about and we couldn't view the picture right after it was taken, I was a terrible photographer. Once I took a photo of the subject's head cut off at the top and another with the camera strap right in front of the lens... {oops!}

Here's my first photo session with my scraps :) This was our night out prawning at Bishan with a group of friends from RS. That night, we bagged the most prawns. 17 I think. Not a fantastic figure, on a good night, one could easily go up to 30 or more! But amongst the group, we did have the largest net of catch :) And in the midst of it, we caught the lagest prawn in the group. If I had taken a picture of what the lady next to us caught, this would appear to be a pathetic prawn size. That lady caught the largest prawn I've ever seen! It was so big! Even a professional prawner came over and said "It cannot get any bigger, that is the biggest..."

Anyway, here's our big catch :)

{Current Favscrap Item}
On a side note, sequins are my current favscrap item! In the image above, I used blue sequins to give the page some extra sparkle. The best thing is it only cost a fraction of the price of what I'd normally get from a scrap shop. These are from Daiso & are available in various colors. They come in little containers like what you see below. You may either store them as an individual container or stack them for easy storage.

Try it for yourself. They'll become your new fav scrap item!

{I love frames!}

I belong to the group of people who emjoy working in a confined space. I love to work in a cubicle that keeps me enclosed. Working with frames feels just like that. Love it!

This frame was quite a challenge.
Purple is just not my color. But it is her fav. color :)

{Mummy's Day!}

When I made this, all I could say was "It's so her!"

{Frame it!}

Went to ikea and saw some affordable & beautiful frames that would be perfect for scrapbooking. The depth is great for 3D embelishments. I love the base of the inner frame. The little space in between allows additions such as pop up text or little 3D items to add dimensions.

The top portion looked kinda empty upon completion. I decided to add a thin ribbon with a sparkle to give it the extra umph!

This was a gift to my dear friend. A way belated wedding gift.

{ScrapNewbie Giveaway}

These are my first few attempts of 12x12 layouts.
Decided to give them as Christmas gifts.

Personlised & unique. A gift from the heart!

{My Answered Prayer}

Each time I look at him, I am reminded of a wonderful and faithful God who made this union possible. My him is a customised, tailored, answered prayer. I believe God set him aside just for me!

Set apart. Stamped. Reserved. Delivered! (Comes with Life Warrenty) :)

{ It's the moments we least expect, we enjoy the most.}

{ Awesome!} "I tell you, you can pray for anything, and
if you believe that you’ve received it,
it will be yours."
Mark 11:24

{This Got Me Started}

I've always wanted to try scrapbooking but I never did until my dearest nephew, Julien was born. It all started from a lil project of creating an album for him. These were my very first work. No photos were included because he wasn't born at that time and right now the album is in Turkey :) Would love to see it filled with photos.

Thank God for best friends like Yin who patiently sat through with me creating these very first pages. Some time towards the end of 2008, I was introduced to an expensive tree murdering hobby - scrapbooking.

A husband once asked his wife, "What can you do with all these paper during an economic crisis? Eat them?"

Men just don't get it...
