{Sleeping Habits}

Sleep till your heart's content and stay awake till sleep time at night.

OR

Wake up early in the morning, take a nap after lunch, wake up late afternoon/early evening and then night falls and it's time for bed again?

I'm like the odd one out at home :)

{Going, going, gone...}

I'm at a point where I'm photo-empty. Yes. It's self-descriptive. I'm out of photos to scrap.

I've been wanting to start on another mini-book, but I haven't came up with a theme for it. I don't really want to just do a mini-album because it takes up space. If I did one, it has to be meaningful and something I'd want to keep and pass it down :)

Any ideas?

{Wedding}

Attended the biggest wedding event ever. 80 tables... reception was quite a challenge ha ha... It was a fun time of meeting cousins whom I've not met for ages. It's strange. Even though we've not seen each other in years, when we met, it was just like we've just met each other yesterday. There was no awkward silence or strange feelings. These are people whom I grew up with, then separated after grandma passed on. When we came back together again, it was like we took off from where we left. My nieces and nephews have all grown up - gosh... we're really getting too old.

Also met up with grandma's best friend. Haven't seen her in more than 10 years, since grandma departed. She's 92 this year and swims daily -WOW!! Talking to her brought tears to my eyes, thought of grandma. The strange thing is just about 2 nights ago, I actually dreamt of this particular friend of my grandma. Can't quite recall the contents of the dream, but I knew I dreamt of her. I didn't expect to see her at the wedding - amazing huh?

Once again, we suffered the repercussion of not inviting people to our wedding 4 years ago... old relatives of relatives... My mum was just telling me how she had actually lost some friends for not inviting them to our wedding. I myself, lost some, coz I didn't invite them. You see, our wedding was held at chijmes, really limited space. Had a lot of relatives. Ended up we only invited relatives and really close friends and collegues whom we meet everyday. Not that all the other friends were not important, just that there wasn't sufficient space. Over time, you realise those people whom you've not invited either feel offended or just decided to not respond to you... It's strange though, I'd thought they'd be thankful they don't have to spend a few hours at the dinner and spending more than a hundred per person... ha ha ha.. oh well... Life goes on.

{Appreciating Him}

Created this LO just for M, using his fav. color - pink. He denies that is his fav. color, but each time he sees a pink shirt, he gravitates towards it :) He loves to take photos... added a camera rub on. Used Mr Sandman to rub it down to give it a seasoned look. So, I finally bought the butterfly and bird puncher. Wanted a bigger one, but they only had this at that moment - did some impulse shopping. Can u spot them - 2 each :D

{Let your light so SHINE}

Made a simple card. The sparkles are actually phone glitter stickers :) Cheap and good.

{Stop buying. Start using.}

Packed my stuff over the weekend. These are just a portion of the stickers and rub-ons. I'm not sure how I'm going to use all of it... it's just piling up!

{Just-in-case Shopper}

I think I suffer from what I call the just-in-case syndrom whenever I buy something I really like at a scrap shop. Lovely prima flowers. I went berserk buying them. I bought 2 of each I picked out, just in case I use it once and run out of it.

Honestly, from all the just-in-case purchase, I've always had excess left. But at the point of purchase, nothing makes sense except, just in case.

I totally blew my budget for the next 3 months with yesterday's scrap purchase @ Laines. You see... when I start picking out stuff, I don't calculate. I just take, put, take, put, take, put and head to the cashier. The moment of truth always hits me when I see the cash register ringing away... then I'd think to myself, "Oops, I forgot to check the price."

I meant to just pop in to buy one thing - the French Memo Board.

But I ended up with tons of other irrelevant items. And when I saw the prima flowers... i became a ridiculous just-in-case shopper.

My new year scrap resolution was not to purchase things I like but only purchase what I need and use up all the stuff I have at home. I was going well at it, until...

Why on earth would I need so many of these? I don't even use them in my LO!!
They just look... ... P-R-E-T-T-Y
Self-control. Discipline. Wake up!!

P.S. I just saw from The Scrapbook Carton facebook post that they will be bringing some really beautiful flowers soon. Add them in facebook and check it out!

{Misting}

I finally decide to give misting a try. After class last Saturday, I'm more confident of just spraying and accepting whatever is created. I've got only 1 mist - tattered leather. Looks like mud water ha ha.. oh well...

I love the scirpture quotes that i just bought from Laines. Absolutely fabulous!

{Not Looking Forward}

February's suppose to be a month filled with love.

14 Feb is not just Valentine's day, but it's also our ROM anniversary. Awww....

However, this year, 14 Feb happens to be the first day of CNY. That's not the end. It falls on a Sunday. That means we have to go to church in the morning, go back to mum's to visit them and rush off for other visiting venues. SO BORING!

I really want to just spend this day quiet and alone with my hubby, since it's a memorable day... but looks like we have to just go with the flow and let CNY take over everything else...

Not forgeting the stupid questions that I'm anticipating to receive "Why so long? So when?" or the occasional instrusive hands that come unvitedly in contact with my tummy. So intrusive! Come on, if I knew when I'd surely tell you. And that tummy, is really not for "just anybody", so keep your hands off!!

Can anyone feel my frustration?!

I really wish they'd all stop asking. I'm not in a hurry, I know it'll come when we're both ready, and God knows best when is the right time. My parents and in laws are really understanding, not stressing us at all.I'm just terribly irritated with everyone else's questioning. I really wish I can miss all of that, but I can't. It's CNY. Hai...

14 February, dreading it.

{Background}

I've been trying to change this blog background for a while now. Can't seem to find anything that I really like, so, it's back to same-old-same-old...

{DIY French Memo Board}

Here's an interesting piece of mini-project.

Wanted to make a French Memo Board for my Chinese-French nephew.

For those who have time to make from scratch, it's not too difficult actually.

Materials
If you prefer something light: Styrofoam Board (From Daiso) or
If you prefer something sturdy: Canvas Board (From any art shop, Spotlight or ikea.)
Staple Gun (From Spotlight)
3M Valcro Tape (From Giant)
Fabric for Background of Board (From Spotlight)
Hot Glue (From spotlight)
Ribbons (Ribbon shop at Arab Street)
Buttons (From everywhere)
And any other embelishments (Scrapbook shops)

1. Cut the fabric so that it is about 3 inches bigger than your board.

2. Lay the fabric flat on the table. Centralise your board on the fabric.

3. Staple gun the fabric onto the board.

4. Beautfy your board according to your prefernce. Add emblishments.

It should look like this:

4. Turn that into a French Memo Board by simply adding ribbons to form diamonds on the board.Make sure the ribbons are secure and tight, so that it can hold your photos and notes. Create the diamond sizes according to your preference.

5. Staple gun the ends of the ribbons to the back of the board.

6. Gun the meeting points of the ribbons at the front of the Board.

7. Hot glue buttons to cover the staple at the front of the board and to add dimensions. I prefer to use hot glue because they stick better.

It should look like this.
(This French Memo Board is not created by me, I bought it ready-made (Plain cream background with light yellow ribbons) because I didn't have time to make one from scratch.

But if you wish to make one from scratch, simply follow the above instructions (I made normal memo boards from scratch) and follow through instructions 5-7. You should end up with a French Memo Board.

To the plain looking ready-made french memo board, I added all the different ribbons and embelishment to spice up the look). Since the french board below is ready made, I couldn't choose the fabric for the background. Instead, I used patterned paper to create the look I wanted and slipped it under the ribbons. These are not permenantly stuck down, you can change them as and when you like :)

I sewed my very own Acorn Buttons (Learnt from Yin during the class organised by The Scrapbook Carton. It's really messy behind and the point where it is joined to the heart, but I sewed it anyway ha ha ha...

7. I love to use 3M velcro tapes. The do not damage your surfaces and are easy to apply. Stick the velcro tapes onto the back of the board, remove the double side stickers, position on wall and push it on :) Wala!
